The tech industry is booming, and it’s becoming the perfect place for sales pros. Indeed, with the number of hardware, software, and tech services created every day, more companies are seeking sales professionals who can tap and connect potential customers with today’s tech innovations.
And because tech sales doesn’t require expert programming knowledge, it’s an ideal path for career starters and switchers who want to get their foot in tech. That being said, you’ll still need to learn the ins and outs of the field to start a career.
Enter, Elevate.
Elevate believes that if you want to become an expert tech sales professional, you’ll need to learn from the experts. And that’s exactly why their instructional team comprises veteran sales leaders.
Elevate is expanding access to high-quality sales training with its remote and online tech sales bootcamp, designed to prepare talent for SDR roles.
Explore a career in tech sales with Elevate. What Is Elevate?
Elevate can be your ticket to a rewarding career in tech sales through its 10-week SDR bootcamp. With a well-designed curriculum taught online, Elevate members have the freedom to learn the ins and outs of tech sales wherever they are and attend live classes at a flexible pace.
Elevate’s remote yet rigorous training has welcomed students from different backgrounds—parents, part-time workers, career shifters, and high school/college dropouts, among others—giving them the chance to start a rewarding career as sales development representatives (SDRs).
To date, Elevate has garnered impressive outcomes. Eighty-five percent of its graduates have secured full-time SDR jobs that pay an average salary of $65,000 a year—a fairly huge compensation rate compared to the national average annual salary for SDRs of $49,573.
Behind Elevate’s success is a team of instructors on a mission to transform lives through its tech sales training, one student at a time.
Who Will You Learn from at Elevate SDR Bootcamp?
Elevate is a community of aspiring tech sales professionals, including underprivileged and underrepresented students. Thus, the sales community puts its effort into creating an A-team that can help hone a welcoming environment and inspire its students.
Elevate follows a holistic approach to providing excellent sales education. It starts with carefully selecting instructors with solid teaching aptitude. They must be patient, excellent communicators, and great at keeping things in perspective—three characteristics that are crucial for effective coaching.
Elevate also seeks instructors who can bring invaluable industry knowledge and experience to the classroom. As explained by Norman Rodriguez, the CEO and Founder, Elevate instructors must have at least two years of experience in an entry-level tech sales role and one year of experience in a managerial role.
This way, Elevate students can be confident that they’re learning from instructors who actually know what they’re talking about. At the same time, because of the instructors’ experience working in entry-level roles, they can empathize with the challenges that career starters and switchers encounter when breaking into the field.
Combined with its well-designed sales curriculum, the learning experience of students at Elevate evokes positivity and drives growth.
Meet Matthew Provins, Elevate Instructor
You can learn a lot about an organization by hearing from its employees. We sat down with Matthew Provins, an Instructor at Elevate, to give you an idea of what to expect during your time at the SDR bootcamp.
Matthew’s career started in politics before pivoting to tech sales, where he found ample opportunities and room to grow his career. After his first job at a sales marketplace as an SDR, he quickly rose the corporate ladder, leading his team as an SDR manager.
Wanting to share his success with aspiring sales professionals, he turned to teaching. Matthew shares, “My mom was a teacher. She taught special ed when I was younger. And I would sit in her classes to help her sometimes. Since then, I’ve always had a passion for coaching, training, and helping others.”
Upon the recommendation of his friend, who was also working at Elevate, he decided to pursue his passion and help students transition into tech sales. But what established his decision to join was how Elevate puts its students first.
Matthew adds, “Elevate deeply cares for its students. They don’t just say that they’re going to have one-on-one sessions with them. Or that they’re going to do coaching and help them get a job [to persuade them to enroll]. Elevate actually does those things.”
In line with Elevate’s teaching approach, Matthew shares industry best practices and keeps himself updated on the latest trends.
He says, “Sales is a very dynamic field that changes quickly. I try my best to stay on top of it and see what the other sales leaders are doing [to achieve success]. As long as I can see the stats to back their claims, I look into them and test them myself. I [test what I learn at my] nine-to-five job to see if it works and then bring it to class and talk about it.”
Matthew also stresses the value of organization to his students. He believes that “…The most important thing that you can have as an SDR is organization skills. If you’re organized, you’ll be successful.”
The support that Elevate provides its students doesn’t end once they graduate from the SDR bootcamp. In fact, Elevate fosters a highly-engaged and tight-knit network of instructors and bootcamp graduates.
Matthew explains, “My goal is to help [Elevate graduates] advance in their career and even get promoted…Most of the time, I have my former students asking me for advice: ‘I’ve been in this role for a few months now, what would be my next steps?’”
He also gives job search tips, stressing the importance of being hands-on and only applying to companies whose values and mission align with yours. “Reach out to the entry-level employees [at your target companies]—the SDRs, the AEs, and the customer success managers. Talk to them and see if they like what they’re doing. From there, cold call the decision-makers and express your interest in working with them.”
