WeCloudData offers a unique blend of credibility and rigor that’s made it a popular hiring choice for some of the world’s largest companies. Prospective students can choose to take courses in four different fields of study: Applied Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, Applied Data Science and Big Data, and Applied Data Engineering. But the school’s appeal stretches beyond its impressive curriculum.
This data science bootcamp is one of the only options on the market that offers students an accredited diploma. If you attend the Applied Data Science and Big Data bootcamp, you’ll receive a diploma at a fraction of the cost of a traditional higher learning path. And you’ll still receive training on the tools that drive today’s data science market including SQL, AWS SageMaker, Hadoop, Pandas, and more.
With these offerings, it’s no wonder that the school can boast an 89 percent job placement rate and an average salary of $75,000 for its data science graduates. And the companies that are hiring these students have a lot of positive things to say about WeCloudData’s methods. If you’re in this program, you’ll get a chance to make your connections at one of WeCloudData’s hiring partners through real client projects.
WeCloudData offers 4 data-focused programs with an emphasis on real-world projects to help you build robust data skillsets.
Apply to WeCloudData today.WeCloudData’s Real Client Projects
Students of WeCloudData’s Applied Data Science and Big Data course and the Applied Data Engineering course get to work on real client projects during their time at the bootcamp. These students get a chance to experience the average work environment that they’ll encounter after graduation.
Students learn about the practical industry applications for the tools they’re learning to use. They also learn how to collaborate with coworkers on real-world projects, and how to communicate with clients. They get real mentoring from industry veterans, and learn how to explain the results that they’re getting from their project in real-time.
But most importantly, they start to see the Agile project management framework firsthand while also building up their resumes and experience. Students graduate with an advantage over many of their competitors for entry-level jobs. They have the advantage of on-the-job experience in a real environment, which can’t be simulated.
Employers appreciate the in-depth training opportunities that WeCloudData’s graduates receive. So much so, that they’re willing to tell everyone why they love to hire the school’s alumni.
What Do Employers Think About WeCloudData?
Alina Rivilis is the AVP of Data Science at IGM Financial Inc., a position she’s held for four years. She holds a Master’s in Statistics from New York University and an MBA in Information Systems Management. As a credentialed data science professional with expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence, she’s more than qualified to speak on the quality of other data experts she meets.
Alina has hired multiple WeCloudData graduates over the years, and these employees always live up to her high standards.
“I believe that WeCloudData produces outstanding data scientists and data engineers,” Alina said. “I am very impressed with the individuals that we have hired over the years from the program.”
The reason Alina believes these graduates stand out is because of their industry-ready training in the most important technology.
“The students that I have worked with were trained in all the latest tools,” Alina said. “[These include] Cloud technology, Python, SQL, among many others, while also being educated in the latest trends in machine learning and AI. The WeCloudData alumni whom I have hired have all come well-prepared and were able to succeed in highly complex and demanding data science and data engineering jobs.”
The on-the-job experience that WeCloudData’s students receive provides an advantage that Alina believes sets them apart.
“The program offers hands-on experience, which provides a valuable understanding of the data science process and how businesses leverage AI to generate value,” Alina said.
“From what I have seen, this provides a competitive advantage to students as well as potential future employers as compared to those who only went through theory-based curriculum or programs. Students have much stronger job readiness, expectations, and better outcomes when on the job.”
Combining theory with practice is at the core of strong program design. These students find themselves prepared to do the work and to operate in the daily work environment around them. Though hard skills are important for data scientists, the ability to work with your teammates is just as important.
“Many individuals who enter the field often think that learning Python or R would get them automatically set for success,” Alina said. “However, I would suggest spending time researching what companies are looking for in a data scientist as well as working on ‘soft skills.’ What is often overlooked is the importance of strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to understand and translate data into a story is one of the most important skills for those entering the field of data.”
Alina believes that WeCloudData’s graduates are industry-ready, and as long as they commit to learning for the rest of their lives, she sees no issue with hiring more of them.
“The program is very advanced, keeps up with current trends, always updates its curriculum, and provides hands-on experience with real clients and data. WeCloudData alumni are outstanding, and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire or recommend them for work in this challenging field of data and AI.”
Alina isn’t just an industry professional who regularly hires WeCloudData graduates, she’s also an instructor at WeCloudData. She passes along her knowledge of industry use cases and also guides people through career workshops. Her qualifications speak for themselves, and many WeCloudData alumni leave the program satisfied.
You can read about the journey that some alumni have taken on the program’s website, but we’ve also spoken to a WeCloudData alum here to give you a first-hand account of their time in the program.
What Do Alumni Think About WeCloudData?
Gauravinder Singh was working as an Uber driver when he heard about WeCloudData. He had a degree in engineering, along with an MBA, with over 13 years of industry experience as a supply chain analytics consultant. Gauravinder had recently immigrated to Canada, and even though he had lots of industry experience, he had trouble adjusting to his new life.
“As a new immigrant to this country, the journey was not so smooth,” Gauravinder said. “I had my set of highs and lows. I had a well-paid job in my home country and was very satisfied with my career progression and then Canada happened.”
“Before this job, I was either doing basic clerical jobs or survival jobs. I was very frustrated with being unable to get a good job, so I decided to go back from where I came and restart from where I left. Then I heard about WeCloudData, and the rest is history.”
He was looking for an entry point into the Canadian data science industry when one of his customers strongly recommended he take the WeCloudData program. That customer turned out to be the head of a large consumer electronics brand’s analytics and data science team. Gauravinder decided he needed to do a bit more research before committing, but he was impressed by the industry’s esteem for the school.
“Before joining the program, I reached out to some of WeCloudData’s graduates and found them to be well placed in the industry,” Gauravinder said. “All of the graduates with whom I spoke were highly satisfied with the program.”
“I also talked to some of the other big names in the industry, including reputed universities, but WeCloudData came out to be a clear winner overall. I was seeking a program that was focused on applied knowledge, and WeCloudData met all my criteria.”
Gauravinder appreciated the curriculum’s practical assignments that let him test the knowledge he was gaining during the program. He also appreciated the help he received from the instructors and teaching assistants during the program.
“The teaching staff at WCD was very helpful and knowledgeable at the same time,” Gauravinder said. “I didn’t have any moments when my questions were left unanswered, partially answered, or not answered to my satisfaction. The instructors always promoted a dialogue. Also, the instructors had a good idea on the needs of the industry and made us ready for the practical problems that we would face in the real world.”
Those practical problems culminated with the real-world client projects that Gauravinder got the chance to tackle during the program. He was glad to have the opportunity to see how tasks in the industry are handled before he was out on his own.
“The client projects were hugely welcome,” Gauravinder said. “I knew that I was working on real data, a real-world problem and that my deliverables were certainly going to impact my client’s business in some way. The client projects gave me a peek into the industry, the nature of problems, and most importantly, the project management cycle.”
He gained a deeper understanding of important tools that he’d learned by using them in a real setting. And it paid off. He was more comfortable during the interview process after learning the ways that companies expected him to perform his tasks. This experience paid dividends, landing him a job in the industry within 60 days of his last lecture.
WeCloudData’s alumni may forge their connections with companies while completing real client projects but they get another helping hand as they enter their new careers: the robust career services at WeCloudData.
WeCloudData Career Services
WeCloudData’s Career Services team works tirelessly to prepare students for their entry into their new data career. Students start rebuilding their resumes in the first week of their experience, and they continue to build on that foundation throughout the program.
In addition to building up their resume, students assemble an eye-catching portfolio by completing projects throughout their course curriculum. They also train their presentation skills throughout the course, making it easier for them to communicate their findings once they’ve made it into the real world.
As their time in the course draws to a close, their resume is critiqued by industry experts and hiring managers who have hired people in their field before. Students learn what hiring managers want out of quality candidates so they can adapt to the hiring market.
Lastly, WeCloudData refers its alumni to its hiring network that consists of top hiring managers, recruiters, and an alumni network of over 12,000 working data experts.
