We’ve previously discussed how Shillington Education offers a unique educational experience that’s transformed thousands of Shillumni’s lives with a simple, yet challenging curriculum. The logical curriculum and experienced instructors are transforming people around the world with little to no experience into professional graphic designers in just a few short months.
Though we’ve shown you the results and how the process works, you may still be wondering if this program is in your range. The course fees are certainly more affordable than a traditional higher education experience, but the price may still be a bit inaccessible for you at the moment.
Luckily, Shillington offers scholarships and payment plans to help you achieve your dreams of working as a graphic designer without worrying about paying for them. And now the school is offering a new scholarship to even the playing field even more for new enrollees. If you apply before the deadline of Monday, July 19, you can take advantage of everything Shillington offers by paying half price, or nothing at all.
Shillington offers two scholarships for its September 2021 intake, designed to help aspiring designers gain in-demand skills.

Shillington offers scholarships for its September 2021 intake. The Dive into Design half scholarships are available to all aspiring designers. This scholarship extends to all programs, from the online course to the part and full-time on-campus courses in New York, London, Manchester, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
But there’s also a brand new scholarship with an added bonus. The Diversity in Design Scholarship and Industry Mentorship is available to aspiring designers from historically underrepresented groups.
This program covers full tuition for one student in the New York City, London, and Sydney cohorts, and pairs them with a mentor from Bulletproof, Represent, and Frost*collective respectively. This opportunity ensures that underrepresented students get the boost that they may have been denied through traditional routes into the industry.
To apply for both scholarships, all you have to do is answer six questions in a written submission, and provide a creative submission along with a letter of recommendation and proof of a high school diploma or GED if you’re in New York City. The creative submission can be a video less than two minutes in length or a PDF that’s less than five pages.
What a Previous Scholarship Winner Has to Say
Shillington doesn’t expect your application to show perfect polish as a designer. The idea here is to show you’re committed to the program and eager to listen and learn. And past scholarship recipients can attest to the impact that this financial assistance has had in their lives.
Recipients like Dyonna Potter, who chose a PowerPoint presentation for her creative submission. She initially didn’t like the idea of doing a “generic” presentation, but after spending most of her time trying to think of the most creative method possible, she realized she was almost out of time.
“I created a digital recipe manual on ‘How to Create the Finest Shillumni’ (because Shillumni sounded like a unique and high-value food to me lol),” Dyonna said. “I included a letter from the chef (myself) stating that I’d been working on the recipe for years but I couldn’t seem to get it right. Ingredients included one cup of desire for a fresh start, a dash of raw talent, 100 percent dedication, 10 cups of passion for design, four years earning a degree that’s no longer applicable, eight years working at a monotonous ‘nine-to-five’, and the ‘special sauce’.”
The special sauce was Shillington, the final ingredient she needed to complete the finest Shillumni. Dyonna had a problem though. She’d just bought a one-way ticket home to the Virgin Islands to figure things out, and she was struggling with the decision between staying in New York where her lease was ending or going home and missing out on an opportunity to chase her design dreams.
Thankfully, Shillington announced its online program shortly after Dyonna won the scholarship, and she was able to attend the course from the Virgin Islands. Dyonna had visited Shillington’s New York campus several times for open houses because she felt drawn to the program. And thanks to the half scholarship, she completed it. She believes the most important ingredient for a successful scholarship application is the drive to succeed.
“Seriously, don’t overthink it. Even if all you can think of is a PowerPoint slide! It’s not so much about the medium as much as it is about allowing your ideas and your heart to shine through that medium,” Dyonna said. “Shillington is not looking for professionals—just people with passion and dedication. Good luck!”
Shillington Education’s Courses and Cost
The programs are still accessible even without the scholarships. The online courses at Shillington cost $12,950 upfront here in the US. The school also offers its on-campus courses at $13,950 upfront for the full-time course and $12,950 for the part-time course.
The average cost of tuition for just one year of a four-year college is $16,318. Shillington gives its students a path to a new career for a far lower price and in far less time. You’ll also be learning in the school’s creative studio environment, which disrupts the traditional graphic design methods. We’ve already covered how the school is helping students land quality graphic design jobs without degrees, and they offer something for every schedule.
The online courses offer flexibility with three three-hour evening classes per week and six hours of homework per week. You’ll be able to continue working during the day, and start working towards your future in the evening. The course’s lower cost doesn’t reflect a lower quality experience. You’re still getting the Shillington training, you just don’t have to move to New York for it.
The on-campus courses in New York come in two formats. The three-month full-time course lasts from 8 AM until 5 PM. for five days a week. The nine-month part-time course allows you to study for two nights per week. You’ll be able to commute to class, access the design library and printers on campus, and meet with your teachers and classmates in person.
No matter which option you choose, you’ll walk away with an impressive portfolio to show potential hirers, and the skills to land any job you’d like in the modern design landscape. In order to ease your transition into the career of your dreams, Shillington also offers payment plans and scholarships for all of its programs.
Shillington Payment Plans
Both online and on-campus courses have payment structures that spread out their cost over a few months. In the online courses, you can pay for your schooling with six monthly payments of $2,159. In the on-campus courses, you have different options depending on your program.
In the part-time course, you first have to pay a $1,000 deposit to secure your spot in the class. From there, you’ll pay $5,000 before the first day of the course, and then 10 monthly payments of $700. If you pay under this plan, the total cost of the part-time on-campus course will be $13,000 instead of $12,950.
In the full-time on-campus course, you also start with a $1,000 deposit but then pay $6,000 before the first day of the course. Afterward, you’ll also make 10 monthly payments of $700. Under the payment plan, the total cost of the full-time on-campus course will be $14,000 instead of $13,950.
Take the First Step toward a New Design Career
Shillington’s scholarships are opening doors for people who may not feel like they’d normally be able to afford Shillington. The added scholarship and its industry mentorship component are offering plenty of room for people to claim their space in the industry. Though the program may last for just a few months, as its alumni will attest, the results can be life-changing.
