Career Karma has the breakdown plus tips on how to ace your own front end development interview.

What is a Senior Front End Developer?

Senior front end developers vs regular front end developers

You may have heard the terms backend or front end development before. The two are very different jobs, with backend focusing on the server side of applications, while front end development focuses on the efficiency and usability of a website. Most front end developers work closely with UX/UI designers, software engineers, and backend developers to ensure that the site is at it’s best and can provide the ideal services to clients. So, what is the difference between a senior front end developer and a regular front end developer? The main differences are experience and pay. Senior front end developers have had three to five years of experience as a regular front end developer and have a comprehensive understanding of the job. They will sometimes manage teams of other front end developers and may even mentor junior front end developers. Prominent skills for senior front end developers include a sound understanding of HTML/CSS, version control/Git, JavaScript, and also proficient testing/debugging skills. Senior front end developers must do well with communicating with others and be comfortable with leadership.
