It’s Friday, which means it’s time to showcase the accomplishments of the talented coders on Career Karma Projects. This week our community members have submitted a range of impressive projects, from an NFL play predictor to an app that helps you track your chores.
We’re excited to announce that we are continuing our promotion with Crash, an online platform that helps job seekers pitch themselves to the best companies. If your project ranks in the top 10 in our weekly spotlight, you’ll receive a free three-month subscription to Crash.
Let’s dive into this week’s rankings and look at the top 10 projects submitted to Career Karma by coding newbies and bootcamp students and graduates.
This Week’s Top Projects
#1: Face Crop App
Face Crop App is a tool that allows you to crop faces in pictures. This tool uses a pre-trained RetinaNet and was given additional training using images from Flickr and Shutterstock. Face Crop App was built by Zuruoke Okafor, a student at Dataquest.
#2: PokeDex API
PokeDex API allows you to search through a database of Pokemon provided by the Pokemon API. You can use this tool to get detailed results about each Pokemon. This project was built by Kendall Allmand.
#3: Chorez
Chores is an application that allows you to effectively organize the chores you have to do. This project was built by Blake Slochowsky, a student at Nashville Software School.
Ramsey Njire, a student at Microverse, built a conference site as his capstone project at bootcamp. This site shows an announcement for an upcoming play and live panel discussion. This project uses Sass, Bootstrap, and CSS Grid and Flexbox for styling.
#5: Zoe
Zoe is a web application that presents temperature and humidity data. The data for this project is collected from an Arduino Uno board, and is used for bacteria inactivation tests. This project was built by Jara Belmonte, a student at Wild Code School.
#6: Project Zoo
Project Zoo is a platform to help you find project ideas and share what you’ve been working on. Project Zoo was built using a Rails api back-end and HTML and CSS on the front-end. This project was built by Osgood Gunawan, a student at Flatiron School.
#7: Airline Apps UX Case Study
Angela Campos, a student at UX Design Institute, was asked to come up with ways to improve a flight app’s UX design. In this project, Angela identified problems with the existing UX design, then created new UI designs for the airline’s mobile app.
#8: Mural Book
Mural Book is an application that allows you to learn more about the murals of Tampa Bay. You can preview murals, discover the artists, and save your favorites. This project was built by Marcus De La Garza, a student at Suncoast Devs.
#9: Analyze Data to Increase Sales
JiaLin Huang, a student at Springboard. was tasked with figuring out how to increase sales by 50% in one year at a small ecommerce company. This project uses Power BI and Excel to analyze 2019 sales data from the company and determine ways to improve the business’ marketing strategy.
#10: NFL Play Predictor
NFL Play Predictor is a tool that predicts what play a player will make next depending on the current state of the game. This tool takes into account play downs, quarters, clock, yardage, timeouts remaining, and other factors. NFL Play Predictor was built by Viraj Modak, a student at Springboard.
