If you’re on the hunt for a trusty bootcamp in Canada, chances are you may have already come across Lighthouse Labs. Recognizing the tech industry’s need for skilled professionals, Lighthouse Labs remains steadfast in delivering programs that transform learners into job-ready web developers, data scientists, data analysts, and cyber security professionals.
Lighthouse Labs has shown continuous growth in all its courses. Its latest outcomes report reveals that Lighthouse Labs has achieved a 90 percent job placement rate each year with graduates securing well-paying jobs within 180 days of completing the bootcamp.
Given how stiff the competition in the labor market is, this is an impressive milestone that speaks volumes about the quality of tech talent Lighthouse Labs brings out consistently. But the true measure of its success lies in how its alumni have progressed in their careers years later.
To answer that, Lighthouse Labs interviewed its graduates from 2013 onwards and has shared the findings in its latest Career Trajectory Report, showing how well students’ careers have flourished over the years. Read on as we highlight their key achievements.
Career Trajectory Report Key Findings: Tracing the Steps of Lighthouse Labs Graduates
With almost a decade in the edtech space, Lighthouse Labs has established itself as a gateway for tech aspirants to realize their dream jobs—whether in web development, data science, data analytics, or cyber security.
The bootcamp offers a broad list of accessible and immersive courses that do not require prior tech education or experience to get started. This low barrier to entry has given rise to a diverse student community—from working parents, musicians, and blue collars to fresh grads, college dropouts, and tech beginners.
So, how do their programs translate into the real world?
Lighthouse Labs surveyed 757 graduates from different cohorts and courses between 2013 and 2021 to assess how its training programs have impacted their careers since graduation. The study set out three questions:
- How much has their salary grown since they graduated from the bootcamp?
- How far have they progressed over the years in their career?
- Are they satisfied with where they are now?
Well, the results are finally in!
Lighthouse Labs Career Trajectory Report reveals that graduates have seen a two-fold salary increase and are happy with their career progression since bootcamp. If they can do it, so can you!

The bootcamp has trained its fair share of students wanting to pivot to tech to reach financial stability. Who wouldn’t want to work in an industry that offers excellent pay and perks?
Among the respondents, Lighthouse Labs notes that students who completed their courses in 2018 reported a 77 percent salary increase. This means that those who graduated in 2018 with an annual starting salary average of $50,000, for instance, now earn $88,000 a year.
What’s more, figures obtained from 2015 graduates revealed their current salaries have more than doubled since they landed their first tech job. Now, they pocket an average of $146,000 annually.
To give a little perspective on that, data from job site Indeed show that software engineers in the US with six to nine years of experience earn $103,000 annually as of September 2022. Meanwhile, data scientists with a similar length of experience make $116,915 each year.
Other key findings include:
- Graduates from the 2021 cohort reported a 15 percent compensation increase.
- 52 percent of graduates with at least four years of work experience since the bootcamp earned over $100,000 annually.
Alums Moved Up the Career Ladder at a Faster Rate
At the end of the day, tech professionals are judged according to what they bring to the table. To be sure, technical knowledge is just half of what hiring managers look for in a candidate. In an ever-evolving work landscape—new tools, frameworks, consumer demands—it pays to have the right mindset and soft skills to sustain.
In line with that, Lighthouse Labs retools its students with strong foundational skills, which are continuously developed as they progress in the industry. According to the Career Trajectory Report, 96 percent of respondents said the skills and knowledge they earned from the bootcamp were highly relevant in their current roles.
It also helps that the bootcamp teaches them to be adaptable, independent yet collaborative, intellectually humble, and open to lifelong learning. This has opened doors for many graduates, with one respondent saying that they successfully pivoted from an entry-level developer to a lead developer in just six months.
So, what does that tell us? It implies that companies recognize the outstanding level of competency among Lighthouse Labs graduates, thereby entrusting them with roles that might have otherwise taken them a year or two to achieve.
Alums Are Happy with Their Tech Careers
Many seek careers that will make them truly happy. This means achieving a work-life balance where they can pursue their passion and make enough money to afford a comfortable life while being able to look after their loved ones.
Lighthouse Labs has made this a reality where over 80 percent of graduates have successfully turned their passion for tech into full-time careers. The survey also revealed that 52 percent embraced a remote work setup that provided them the time and flexibility to do more. This has led to career satisfaction among respondents, with 78 percent still working in tech to this day.
The bootcamp has been instrumental in enabling thousands of professionals to not only find a job to make ends meet but also secure a tech career they aspired to. For instance, a former bartender-turned-software-engineer shares that carving a career they deeply care about gave them a better outlook on life.
An alum from the 2020 cohort adds, “I learned so much in my career in such a short period. My biggest takeaway [from that journey] has been the feeling of fulfillment from contributing to a platform that has a positive impact on its audience.”
