A tech career has become the dream of many people—including you—for several reasons. First, tech jobs are not going anywhere as the demand for professionals who can build and navigate digital solutions grows. Second, most tech jobs pay well, especially web development and data analysis. Finally, many tech companies acknowledge the importance of workplace flexibility, with some allowing employees to work remotely full- or part-time.
Given these perks, it’s not surprising why many folks want to break into the industry. But for working professionals and parents, turning this dream into reality is not an easy feat.
Indeed, a career change entails expanding your skillset to perform the tasks that your future role demands. Put another way, you’ll need to go back to school or enroll in a training program to upskill. The problem is that many adult learners can’t fit typical education—think college or in-person, full-time bootcamps—into their busy schedules.
So why not enroll in an online bootcamp, you say? Well, while online bootcamps are generally considered a more flexible and accessible alternative to university and college tech education, a rigid schedule of live online classes prevents many from reaching the finish line. On the other hand, online tech courses with only pre-recorded video lectures fail to provide the interaction and student support most people need to conquer technical skills.
Bridging the gap between these two modes, BloomTech introduces a new learning experience to make tech training more flexible—and therefore possible—for prospective students.
BloomTech offers busy students an online coding bootcamp designed to help them jumpstart their tech careers with more flexibility, job search support, and even a guarantee for those who qualify.

With BloomTech’s customizable learning experience, students can prepare for rewarding tech careers on just about any schedule. (By the way, you can test out BloomTech for three weeks without any financial commitment in their Risk-Free Trial.)
Here’s what you can expect as a BloomTech student:
Learn at Your Pace
BloomTech offers multiple live online classes for every point in the curriculum to fit everyone’s schedule. The school’s platform tracks your progress in the course and highlights the lessons you’ll need to take to move forward and learn specific technical skills. As a result, you’ll always know what to tackle next. You decide when to learn it.
Classes are scheduled every day of the week at different times of the day. For example, on weekdays, you can study in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings. Weekend classes are also offered at different times of the day. Even better, you’re not locked into always taking classes on a certain day or at a particular time. You can adjust your schedule to fit your life.
Whenever you choose to take live classes, you will also have access to BloomTech’s on-demand guided projects. These are engaging recorded lessons with captions, searchable full transcripts, and chapters to jump to. You’ll learn while doing as you practice along with the instructor on the videos. Its structure allows you to watch and re-watch the classes whenever is most convenient for you.
In other words, you are never falling behind or ahead of the class; you are precisely in an optimal position for yourself.
While the program has maximum flexibility, BloomTech has checkpoints to ensure you’ve learned the skills needed to advance to the next portion of the curriculum. These include a sprint assessment and sprint challenge. You’re not rushed to complete a section on a strict timeline, like a regular class; take as long or even as little as you need to learn the material before you move on.
Receive Personalized Support
At BloomTech, you’re never left alone or wondering what to do next. You will have a coach you can meet with as often as you like. They will help you set career goals and hold you accountable throughout the course.
A Discussion Forum is also available for you and your peers to share your ideas and support each other during the bootcamp. You can get answers to common questions, including academic help if you’re stuck on a topic or skill in your course. The platform helps build a community that provides teamwork, study sessions, networking, and peer support opportunities.
You can communicate and ask for assistance from other students who are in the same unit of the curriculum through threads moderated by school employees. If your questions remain unresolved, you can always create a support ticket to get personalized help.
Practical Training
BloomTech’s curriculum includes hands-on experience called BloomTech Labs, where you work on real-world projects for mission-driven organizations. BloomTech Labs’ practical approach to training equips you with an impressive portfolio and job-ready skills right out of bootcamp.
According to BloomTech, graduates frequently use their Labs projects as examples of their experience in job interviews.
Get-Hired Game Plan
BloomTech’s Personalized Job Search Experience brings you closer to a tech job, faster. BloomTech provides a customized list of job opportunities to apply to and connects you with the right spokespersons in the hiring process. You also get exclusive access to the school’s hiring partners and alumni network.
Moreover, the BloomTech Career Services team helps you create a custom message for the hiring manager to increase your chances of getting a job interview. If you’re worried about acing the job interview, BloomTech has you covered! For every interview you secure, a career coach will be there to prepare you. You can also receive assistance from a senior engineer before a technical interview.
Once you succeed in both interviews, BloomTech will help you negotiate your salary and get an even better job offer.
How BloomTech Changes Lives: Alumni Success Stories
To better understand the benefits of joining BloomTech’s flexible learning experience, we heard from three alumni who successfully started their tech careers, despite their non-traditional backgrounds, with the bootcamp’s help.
Aaron Burns
After an unfulfilling career in sales, a radio speech about software engineering by BloomTech CEO Austen Allred caught the interest of Aaron Burns. “One day, my mom called me and told me, ‘Hey, I just heard this guy on the radio, talking about this school that he has. And I think you’d probably be good at this kind of thing,’” he recounts. For the next two months, Burns researched the school and gained basic programming skills. Once he was ready, he took the plunge and enrolled at BloomTech.
Flexibility, access to support, and community served as the top three reasons for Burns’ choice to join BloomTech. “What made me feel like BloomTech was the right choice for me was the depth of the overall course,” shares Burns, who also had to juggle a full-time job and care for his family while studying. “[I also liked] the entire setup they had with instructors… And then, there’s also the opportunity to reach out for extra tutoring.”
In addition, the training program mimics a real engineering department, which for Burns made the learning experience “even more meaningful.” “It didn’t feel like I just watched 100 hours of YouTube because I came out with friends; I came out with real-world experiences.”
After BloomTech, Burns secured a job as a software engineer at Cisco. “BloomTech knows exactly what they’re doing, focusing so heavily on JavaScript,” he shares. “Cisco was excited that they didn’t have to wait for me to learn JavaScript.” With the skills he learned at BloomTech, Burns says he was able to start doing his job immediately.
The remote learning setup of BloomTech was also instrumental in preparing him for working with developers based in different states and time zones. “Having the accountability, especially when you will not walk by any of these people in an office and your boss will not surprise you and check on your work… So I think because that was the only method of BloomTech, [having that sense of accountability] has now been ingrained into my mind.”
With his software engineering job, Burns can now provide for his family well beyond his previous means. “My previous income pales in comparison with my income at Cisco,” he shares. “That consistent income would help me provide the stability that I was fortunate enough to grow up with but was struggling to find out how to provide for my children.”
“I really just want to be able to give my kids the world and afford ballet lessons, which was something that my daughter has been asking for about two years, but I just couldn’t afford it. And it seems like I will be able to soon.”
Stu Darsey
Raised in a small town in South Georgia, Stu Darsey has known since childhood that the traditional standards of success—formal education, marriage right after college, and settling in one place—was not for him.
“I started learning more about what interested me. So, I did a lot of jobs. I tried to count one time, and I think I’ve had 70 different jobs. I’ve done everything from a barista to a chimney sweep to working at a softball park and even restaurants,” shares Darsey. “I was hitting my 30s…I had been successful enough to bounce around, get jobs, and do unique things. But I really didn’t have anything that grounded me or gave me a reason to want to wake up and go to work.”
This all changed when he spent a weekend with his friends from high school. “I remember them saying, ‘I can’t see you as anything else, except a developer.’ And honestly, having faith in my pals who have known me my whole life was the push in the right direction. And they told me about BloomTech.”
Hooked by BloomTech’s promise of turning an absolute beginner into a developer, Darsey enrolled at the bootcamp. “BloomTech gives you that opportunity to be around other people who want a better life for themselves as well.”
The main takeaways from his training at BloomTech are how to approach problems, ask questions the right way, and find relevant information to help you problem solve—all vital skills for any aspiring developer.
Currently, Darsey works as a full stack engineer for the cloud-based company StatusGrid, and it looks like he’s there to stay. “I am a full stack engineer, I work from home, but my office is two miles down the road. So I go in when I want to go in,” says Darsey.
“My weekends are amazing because I am not tired the same way. I mean, it is [mentally draining], don’t get me wrong, but I’m not grinding my gears with another person or something. I’m challenged by finding solutions to problems that have solutions.”
Danielle Koduru
After graduating with a degree in religion, Danielle Koduru got married, started a family, and poured her time into doing outreach activities for youth. After a while, Koduru and her husband realized they were ready to turn to the next chapter in their lives.
“My husband went back to school, and then I went back to work and started thinking about what I wanted to jump into. And I remembered that I had always really wanted to get into tech but just hadn’t had the means to do that.”
Enter, BloomTech.
“I knew someone who was going through the program. And then, by the time I attended, he had graduated and gotten a job,” she shares.
This firsthand insight, along with the pandemic, pushed Koduru to attend BloomTech finally and pursue her dreams. “I would do the courses in the evening, my husband would work all day, and then I would watch the kids during the day,” recounts Koduru.
“Having flexibility within the program was a make-or-break deal for me because I wouldn’t have been able to do the program otherwise,” she shares. “My daughter was in preschool at the time. And she would say, ‘Mom, we’re going to school together.’”
Aside from the technical training, Koduru praised BloomTech’s job search support. “I utilized every resource that I could. Just having someone look over my resume and point out what I needed to fix, add, or highlight was very helpful. By the time I finished Labs, my GitHub was all set up, my LinkedIn was looking good for the job search, and my resume was done. That set me up for success as I stepped into the career part of my journey at BloomTech.”
Koduru now works as a data scientist consultant for Accenture.
“I feel like BloomTech helped me build some confidence, especially as I was coming from having no experience in tech at all. So to be able to take a job as a data scientist was just absolutely incredible to me. BloomTech helped get me there by giving me the tools and the training I needed to confidently walk through an interview and accept a position that I wanted. That was a dream.”
